How Would You Describe The Way You Work With Students?

“I believe in combining professionalism with a little added humor to the classroom, to gain my students’ trust. Most of all, I recognize that each student as an individual to be treated with respect, dignity and sensitivity. My goal is have the classroom simulate the workplace, to make an easier transition to a hospital setting. More preparation makes for less anxiety. How Would You Describe The Way You Work With Students?

“I am a visual learner, so I put as many visual aids possible into my theory. In the clinical setting, I find opportunities for hands-on procedures for my students. I challenge my student nurses to become the nurse they want at their own bedsides, if the roles were reversed. I frequently ask probing questions of the students, and give verbal rewards for a job well done. I encourage them to be life-long learners, to seek knowledge for its own sake. Always ask ‘Why?’”
