St. Francis Career College Skills and Simulation Lab

St. Francis Career College (SFCC) has created a quality education environment where students can engage in active learning experiences that will enable them to be confident self-directed learners. The Skills and Simulation Lab is a state-of-the-art learning lab that serves as a key learning resource setting for SFCC, by allowing students to practice in a safe environment and receive targeted feedback for continuous improvement. Throughout their programs of study, Nursing students also participate in a variety of programmed activities and case scenarios that help strengthen critical thinking, decision making, delegation and team work. These efforts are designed to build knowledge and skills that translate from the lab to a variety of clinical settings.

The lab is a multifunctional teaching and learning center that provides an excellent opportunity for independent learning, facilitated and audio-visual instruction and the practice and refinement of nursing skills. The lab offers opportunities for teaching and learning in the cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains.

The lab is fully equipped and is home to ten mid fidelity simulators that are computer-based that allow nursing students to perform assessment with audible heart , lung and bowel sounds, and perform clinical procedures. Included are high-fidelity simulators SimMan and Noelle, who are designed to simulate trauma, critical and acute care scenarios, and a birthing bay with an infant for our obstetric training. SFCC is shaping the future by preparing nurses to provide quality care to ultimately improve outcomes of patients and families in the community.

The Seton Hall of Knowledge

St. Francis Career College’s (SFCC) Seton Hall of Knowledge is more than a library: It is a center of seeking, learning, and teaching, in the tradition and ministry of the Daughters of Charity.

Open seven days/week, the Seton Hall of Knowledge offers students ready access to healthcare periodicals and magazines, Medline Database access, computer workstations, printing and copier services, and remediation opportunities. This multi-purpose space is also a site for meetings, testing, luncheons, and other gatherings.
