The Vocational Nursing program offers a conceptual framework of knowledge, skills, values, meanings, and experience and its integration into the provision of nursing care within the scope of the Vocational Nurse Practice Act. The course of study is designed to utilize a curriculum that progresses from simple to complex concepts in theory and clinical skills. The following courses, which are integrated into the Vocational Nursing curriculum, are taken in collaboration with El Camino Community College-Compton Center (ECC):
Psychology 1 or 101: General Introductory Psychology (minimum 3 semester units)
- Psychology 9 or 41: Life Span or Developmental Psychology (minimum 3 semester units)
- Anatomy 30: Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology (minimum 4 semester units)
(Note: If you have taken any of the courses listed above and would like to request credit, please be prepared to submit an official transcript, along with the college catalog course descriptions and/or syllabus of the course taken.
Class Size: 45. A waiting list will also be maintained in case of cancellations.
New Student Orientation Dates (9 to 18 days) are scheduled prior to the first day of theory, and it is required for the student to attend. These days include the following sessions: New Student Orientation, Pre-Advising, and Student Information & Assessment.. Confirmation of dates and times will be issued to those accepted into the program Business casual attire is required for orientation. (NO flips flop, shorts, low cut tank tops, revealing clothing, body piercing jewelry, denim wear (jeans, jackets) etc are allowed.Only one pair of earrings allowed).

LENGTH OF PROGRAM
The Vocational Nurse* academic instructional length has four (4) semesters of 16 or more weeks totaling approximately sixteen (16) months. Total Curriculum Clock Hours: 1593 hours
*Instructional length stated above does not include semester breaks and other holidays or days off observed by St. Francis Career College or does it include NCLEX review, ATI proctored exams, focus reviews, comprehensive exam required for graduation.
Total program length in months is approximately eighteen to twenty (18/20) months.
